The government will take 1.5% of your salary starting this month in an aim to fund Uhuru’s affordable homes as indicated in the big 4 agenda.
Through a statement released by the ministry of Housing and Urban Development, employees have been directed to ensure that they make the payment by May 9th.
“…provided that the sum of the total monthly contributions shall not exceed Sh5,000. Voluntary contributions may also be made to the scheme at a minimum of Sh2,000 per month,” the ministry said.
The levy will be implemented concurrently with other statutory deductions by the 9th of every payroll.
The 1.5% levy takes effect months after the court temporarily suspended the move after COTU contested it’s implementation arguing that it was double taxation.
