Nairobi to spend Sh10M on purchase of power generator

Despite the Nairobi County Assembly’s expenditure being slashed by over Sh450 million, the county has set aside Sh10 million to purchase a power generator.

The generator will be installed at City Hall executive wing with the aim of ensuring that in case of a black out, office operations are not halted.

Reports indicate that City Hall continuous to experience power black outs caused by the normal power outages or when Kenya Power disconnects their electricity supply due to accrued debts by the county.

Nairobi County has a recurrent budget of Sh1.387 billion despite Sh456,430,000 being slashed from the original developmental expenditure of Sh592 million.

New estimates indicate that the county’s recurrent expenditure will stand at Sh22billion, a rise from the previous Sh21.3 billion.

The county has also allocated Sh210 million for hiring of security guards to provide safety in all county installations. Sh185 million has also been set aside for purchase of vehicles for county executives.
